Donald L. Miles, 80

Donald L. Miles, of Satellite Beach, FL., formerly of Mt. Vernon, died on Feb. 6, 2012. He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Degonia Springs in Warrick Co., to Vivian and Arvel Miles, who moved to Mt. Vernon when he was an infant.
He was preceded by his parents; sisters Bettye Chilton and Lillian Carrier; brother, Arvel Miles, Jr. and granddaughter, Sabrina Lachle.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Gronemeier, to whom he was married to on Feb. 18, 1951; a son, James A. Miles of Jacksonville, Fl., daughter, Anne M. Lachle of Coca, Fl.; grandson, Christopher Lachle; great-granddaughter, Madison Downey, and great-grandsons, Cayden and Bronson Lachle.
He graduated from MVHS in 1949; was in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Indiana State University with B.S. & M.S. degrees. He was employed many years in the aerospace industry in Fla., retiring from Lockheed Space Operations in 1966.
Funeral service was held at Sat. Bch. United Methodist Church on Feb. 10, 2012, where he was a 37-year member.
A graveside service will be held at Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.
