Members of the First United Methodist Church Youth Group came together Monday morning with temperatures nearing 90 degrees to do several projects in the community, mostly helping some of town’s elderly members with outside projects. “I love seeing the kids out working and making a difference in the community. They are putting their faith into action, says Pastor Christopher Millay. The youth group did several fundraisers throughout the year in order to have the funds to pay for this. This is something they did two years ago and would love to be able to do it every year. “We feel it’s important for the kids to apart of the community, says Peg Heckman. Earlier this morning, some of the group started at Susanna Wesley before coming out here. They are staying at the church all week long and have several other projects in mind for the week. Albert Gibbs is one of the fortunate ones that they came to help. As he sits inside his home and can hear all the work going on outside, he says they are a blessing. With occurring health problems through the year, I just couldn’t get outside to keep my house together.
