Lady Harriers win Pike Central Invite

The Mount Vernon Girls’ Track team posted two big wins last week, defeating county rival North Posey on the road and winning the Pike Central Invite.


North Posey

Mount Vernon stunned North Posey with a score of 94-28 last Monday night in Poseyville. It was a team effort.
Brooke Green won the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.

Cydney Cole outran the field to win the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.

Summer Sanders won the 800-meter run.

Taylor Collins put distance between herself and the field to win the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.

The relay teams were tough. Summer Sanders, Rachel Krieger, Taylor Collins, and Madison Rodgers won the 4x800-meter relay. Arianna Wilkerson, Courtney Bourne, Cole and Green took of with first place in the 4x100-meter relay. Taylor Brooks, Hallie Fisher, Green and Sanders captured first place in the 4x400-meter relay.
Field events earned the Lady Cats even more dominance with Makenna Russell winning the shot put and Kayanna French taking top honors in the discus. Sanders also won first place in the long jump.


Pike Central Invite

The Lady Cats proved their dominance last Thursday night by winning the Pike Central Invitational. They took first place with 108 points over Heritage Hills (88 points), Pike Central (58 points), Tecumseh High School (48 points) and Wood Memorial (25).

Brooke Green handled the sprints, finishing with top honors in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints.

Cydney Cole posted first place points in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.

Summer Sanders won the 800-meter run.

Arianna Wilkerson, Courtney Bourne, Cole and Green grabbed the blue ribbon in the 4x100-meter relay.

Taylor Brooks, Hallie Fisher, Green and Sanders ran to first place in the 4x400-meter relay.

Kayanna French threw the discus to first place, while Makenna Russell out tossed the field in the shot put. Sanders brought home a first place finish in the long jump.

The Lady Cats host the Mount Vernon Invite alongside their male teammates this Friday night under the lights at Memorial Field. The meet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
