Lady Wildcats win sectional

Volleyball sectionals started this past week in Southern Indiana and North Posey and New Harmony had to take a road trip for their games. Mount Vernon was home, hosting their sectional.
North Posey faced the number four team in Class 2A,Tell City Marksmen in the Forest Park sectional. Tell City handed the Vikings a 3-0 defeat. The scores in the match were 25-19, 25-13, 30-28. North Posey fought hard to stay alive in the third set but fell short, ending their season.
New Harmony met Tecumseh in the first round of the Wood Memorial 1A sectional. New Harmony lost to the eventual sectional champion Braves, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.
Mount Vernon was host for their 3A sectional. They met Bosse in the first round of the sectional. Mount Vernon defeated the Bulldogs 25-14, 25-16, 25-23. Mount Vernon moved on to face Gibson Southern  in round two. The Wildcats had an easier time with the Titans, finishing them off in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17.
The win over Gibson Southern moved Mount Vernon into the championship game with Memorial.
The game was a rematch from last year's sectional title game, in which Memorial won en route to a semi state appearance.
Mount Vernon was again the dominant team, and exacted some revenge, defeating Memorial, 25-12, 25-11, 25-6, winning the sectional title.
Mount Vernon faced Jasper at Jasper yesterday in the regional round. Score was unavailable at press time.
