Legislators field questions about education, taxes

State lawmakers visiting New Harmony Saturday started out on the defense, responding to comments made by state legislative candidate Trent Van Haaften that appeared in the Mount Vernon Democrat and other papers alleging Posey County had
weak representation in the statehouse.
“That’s not true,” said Sen. Jim Tomes of Wadesville.
“Don’t think for a minute that you don’t have proper representation of Posey County.”
Tomes then cited instances that he says are examples of that representation.
