Kenny Schilling, a 2008 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, has been awarded a summer internship with Dow AgroSciences. Schilling is a junior studying agribusiness economics at Murray State University.
Schilling is among a select group of nearly 40 interns picked from a nationwide search of undergraduate candidates. To be considered, applicants were required to be of sophomore status or higher and pursuing a degree in agricultural science or business with a 3.0 minimum grade point average.
“I am looking forward to learning about Dow AgroSciences products and how they help growers to be more profitable,” Schilling said.
The internship includes gaining valuable and practical experience with products from Dow AgroSciences by providing technical services to customers and sales support to dealers as well as performing product promotion activities. Many interns also will implement and manage demonstration plots or trial sites while ensuring the responsible use of products.
In preparation for the internship, Schilling participated in an intensive five-day training session at the Dow AgroSciences global headquarters in Indianapolis in May. The program consisted of classroom instruction, hands-on training and role-playing, with a focus on key products and market segments. Field scientists, sales leaders and product marketers from Dow AgroSciences and Mycogen Seeds with more than 500 years of combined experience led the sessions.
