North Posey to host Challenge Day

-A A +A

School seeks adult volunteers

North Posey High School will have Challenge Day on Thursday, Oct. 20. Challenge Day is a transformational day of fun, leadership and power that can change the way people view one another forever. Challenge Days are powerful, high-energy programs in which youth and adult participants are guided through a series of experiential learning processes.
Adult participants are crucial to the success of the day, and the school is looking for 30 adults to participate on Thursday, Oct. 20. If you are interested in participating as a facilitator, send e-mail to jlamble@northposey.k12.in.us or call 673-6607. Adult participants are asked to respond by Friday, Sept. 30.
The role of adult facilitator requires no special training. Facilitators are asked to stay all day, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., be supportive of the students, and make sure each student gets a turn to speak in a small group, etc.
The program welcomes parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, police officers, elected officials, community members and any other interested adults. This allows youth to see another side of these adults in addition to their own community roles.
The overall goals of the program are to increase personal power and self esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, oppression and all forms of violence.
The Challenge Day program is designed to unite the members of the school and to empower them to carry the themes of the program back to the school population.
Challenge Days also successfully address issues of violence, teasing, social oppression, racism, harassment, conflict management, suicide, peer pressure and alcohol and drugs. For more information about challenge day, visit www.challengeday.org.
