  • Letter to the Editor from Tom Kopatich

MSD of Mount Vernon Welcomes You to the 2015-2016 School Year.

The 2015-16 school year is just around the corner. I would like to extend a welcome back to all of our students, faculty, staff, and parents. Our junior high and high school offices are now open and all three elementary schools will be open on Wednesday, July 29. Detailed information regarding the opening of school can be found in the local newspapers as well as on each school's Facebook page.

As I havementioned before, our schools depend on good communication to ensure our students'success.

  • Letter to the Editor - One person makes a difference

In our everyday lives we hear all kinds of platitudes and most of them have substance in our life. One that I like is “Anyone can make a difference.” Susie Schroeder, a member of the Owen Dunn Unit 5 American Legion Auxiliary in Mt. Vernon is making a difference. One of the ways the Auxiliary helps military families is to clip discount coupons and mail them to overseas commissaries. The manufacturers will honor the coupons up to 6 months after the expiration date. The coupons are a great help to our military families living overseas on tight finances.

  • Letter to the Editor: Administration thanks schools for high performance

For the second time in three years, all schools in the MSD of North Posey School Corporation received all A’s in the state evaluation system. MSD of North Posey was also one of only 27 Indiana districts awarded this prestigious honor for the year.

  • Letter to the Editor: Organization grateful for Mount Vernon contribution

I’m writing to thank Mount Vernon residents for their generosity in helping thousands of suffering children worldwide this Christmas. Through their efforts, we were able to collect 473 shoeboxes—filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items—for Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. These simple gift-filled shoeboxes communicate to needy children that they are loved and not forgotten.

  • Thanks for successful benefit game
  • Thanks to UMC for kindness during holidays

We wish to express our thanks to the United Methodist Church for their kindness during the holiday season. Thanksgiving, we were served a hot meal, and Christmas, we were given a basket of food. What a thoughtful way to be remembered.
Thank you so much. It helped so much to make Thanksgiving and Christmas so much brighter. May God richly bless you for your kindness to us.
    Sincerely,
    The Village Apartments residents
