On August 31, 2014, A$AP Mob was charged with a misdemeanour and assault after allegedly striking a woman at a music festival. When a witness failed to appear in court, the case was dismissed; nonetheless, the woman later filed a lawsuit in July 2014. It was settled confidentially in April 2015.

A$AP Rocky was arrested for aggravated assault in Stockholm, Sweden, in July 2019 following a street battle with Mustafa Jafari. Jafari was allegedly beaten and kicked during the incident. Rocky shared two videos of the incident on Instagram, one of which shows him and his crew begging two young men, one of whom is Jafari, to leave them alone. The second video shows Jafari’s headphones breaking during a fight, and Jafari using them to beat up on A$bodyguard AP. The bodyguard is seen punching Jafari on surveillance tape. Following his imprisonment, the US Embassy paid him a visit, his family sought Al Sharpton’s help in getting him released, and a slew of other activists, politicians, and singers petitioned for his release, all to no avail.

A$AP Rocky pleaded not guilty to the assault accusation. On August 2, the trial ended, and he was released from custody to await the verdict on August 14. He flew back to the US on his own plane from Sweden, knowing that if the final sentence was more than the time he had already served, he would be transported back to Sweden to serve the rest of his sentence. He was found guilty of assault and sentenced to a one-month suspended prison sentence (which he had already served) as well as $1,270 in damages to the victim.
