Android WhatsApp users soon won’t have an unlimited Google Drive backup option. The amount of free storage space provided by Google Drive to Android users for the storage of WhatsApp chat backups may be capped, according to a tip from WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo.
The notice strings for alerting users when Google Drive is getting close to its storage limit are shown in a screenshot provided by WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp conversations for iOS users are archived on iCloud, which provides 5GB of free storage. On the other hand, Google Drive, where the chat backups of users of the WhatsApp Android app are stored, provides infinite storage.
There are rumors that Google will keep providing a storage cap for WhatsApp backups. It will, however, be incorporated into a constrained strategy. Google offers users 15GB of free storage across Google Drive, Photos, Gmail, and other services.
