Marc Silverstein and Busy Philipps are no longer working together.
The “Girls5eva” actress revealed that she and Silverstein had divorced after 15 years of marriage on her podcast, “Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best,” on May 27.
“Marc and I have been apart for a long time,” she informed her co-hosts, adding that “our kids know, our families know, and our friends know.”
She went on to say on the podcast that they broke up in February 2021 and have kept it a secret since then. Phillips, 42, and Silverstein, 50, married in June 2007 and have two children, Birdie Leigh, 13, and Cricket Pearl, eight years old. She stated they had a lot of discussion before deciding to part up.
“The reality is, there’s a well-established understanding of what a public figure should do when their relationship ends, right?” According to Phillips, “You make a statement, you’re dedicated to remaining friends, and you say, ‘Please respect our privacy and the privacy of our family during this time,’ right? But the truth is, who set that regulation, and why do you do it that way? That’s not a joke.”

She went on to say: “You don’t have to stick to a tried-and-true strategy just because it’s worked previously. That is something I am certain of.”
The idea of issuing any kind of statement “made us sick,” according to Phillips, so they decided to keep things secret. “The surest way that Marc and I were able to preserve the privacy of our kids that we love so f—-ing much was not involve the public,” the “Dawson’s Creek” alum stated.
Phillips has already discussed her marriage problems with Silverstein. She said in her 2018 memoir, “This Will Only Hurt a Little,” that her issues with the producer drove her to seek emotional assistance from another man and then a therapist.
In the November 2018 issue of Parents magazine, she also discussed earlier tensions in their relationship, telling People that Silverstein was not a very supportive dad after the two welcomed Birdie.
“He didn’t know how to be a father and didn’t even attempt it. I was single-parenting “She thought back. “He answered, ‘Fine, but it’s all on you,’ when I informed him I wanted to have a second kid. That was the most sad thing I’ve ever witnessed.”

She went on to say: “It’s never easy to be married, but it’s even more difficult when you have children… You’ll have times when you don’t feel like it, but there must always be one person eager to fight. ‘I cannot do this any longer,’ I told Marc on multiple occasions. It’s up to you to make a change.'”
Phillips told Harper’s Bazaar in October 2019 that she and Silverstein had to learn how to communicate after she noticed that domestic responsibilities were not being balanced appropriately.
She told the site, “You have to figure out what works for you.” “And there’s the matter of your children to consider. I want everything for my daughters, but they’ll only believe it’s possible if they see me have it.”
