St. Philip Men’s Club Burgoo
St. Philip Men's Club Annual Burgoo and Raffle will be held Sunday, Sept. 25. Drive-thru and carry-outs begin at 7:30 a.m. The cafeteria opens at 11 a.m. where there will be burgoo, hamburgers, pies and drinks. Also available will be raffle tickets with a Grand Prize of $20,000 and 20 other prizes. The drawing will be at 1:30 p.m.

Trinity U.C.C. welcomes Missionary to Chile
Elena Huegel, missionary to Chile, will be at Trinity United Church of Christ Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. A reception will follow the presentation. A presentation will be given with inspiring stories and photographs about the Chilean people as they rebuild their lives in the aftermath of natural disasters. Huegel is a teacher, storyteller, a poet, and an artist. She is the program director of Centro Shalom, a peace and environmental education camp in central Chile. She uses a variety of imaginative methods to teach ecology and peace-building. In addition, she creates a context for spiritual transformation and healing. Elena is bilingual and bicultural and acts as a bridge between the English and Spanish-speaking communities. She has worked with delegations from the MACUCC churches and has been active in relief efforts following the earthquake and tsunamis of February 2010.

St. John’s Episcopal Church
St. John’s Episcopal Church will resume a 10 a.m. worship time on Sunday. Summer hours begin the Sunday before Memorial Day.

Church Women United
The Church Women United will have its next meeting Wednesday, Sept. 21, hosted by Point Township Church of the Nazarene, held at B&B Antiques and Collectibles at 514 W. Fourth St., Mount Vernon. All church women in the Mount Vernon and surrounding areas are invited to be members of the local council and to represent their church at council meetings.
