Health Department
Immunization Clinics

The Posey County Health Department will have immunization clinics Feb. 16 at the coliseum in Mount Vernon from 2-6 p.m., and March 9 at North Elementary in Poseyville, 3-5 p.m.
Required immunizations for the 2010-11 school year include:
n All Kindergarten students will be required to have one of the required doses of polio vaccine given on or after the fourth birthday, and at least 6 months after the previous dose.
n All sixth through 12th grade students will be required to have two doses of varicella vaccine, given on or after the first birthday, and separated by age-appropriate intervals as defined by the CDC, or a history of chickenpox disease documented by the parent/guardian.
Those students will also be required to have one dose of Tdap given on or after the 10th birthday, and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine. Parents or guardians are asked to bring shot records for each child receiving immunizations.

Preschool Screening
There will be a preschool screening clinic Monday, Feb. 7 at South Terrace Elementary School in Wadesville. Posey County Special Services is offering preschool screening clinics to assess developmental skills, speech/language skills, vision and hearing for children ages 3-5 at no cost to the parent.
