Girls Scouts hosting STEAM U overnight event for all girls

-A A +A

Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana and the University of Evansville invite all girls entering grades 6-12 to an overnight event, funded in part by a grant from the Welborn Baptist Foundation, that focuses on the innovation that is made possible through the collaboration of science and the arts/humanities.
Girls will attend interactive sessions run by University of Evansville faculty that cover topics like the role of energy in nature and in your own body; how scientists, writers, and artists observe nature; solar-powered energy activities; how to become a locavore; and the use of electronic instruments and computers to analyze sound waves.
Following the sessions, activities will include a movie, have a midnight snack, and an overnight in a UE dorm.
The event runs from 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 14 to 8 a.m., Saturday, June 15. Cost is $20 per girl and includes pizza, snack, breakfast, journals, patch, supplies for sessions and programming.
Girls do not have to be Girl Scout members to participate.
