North Posey graduate performs in New York City

University of Evansville student Jaclyn Hostettler of Wadesville, performed at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on Saturday, May 28 with a combined choir of more than 150 singers.
University of Evansville Director of Choral Activities Dennis Malfatti was specifically invited by concert producer Mid-America Productions to serve as a guest conductor at Carnegie for the Spring-Summer 2011 season. Of the seven choirs performing Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War under Malfatti’s direction, three are from Evansville: the University of Evansville University Choir, members of the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus, and the University of Southern Indiana Chamber Singers. Additional choirs traveled from from Kentucky, New York, and California. University of Evansville students including Hostettler, who is majoring in Music Performance, participated with singers from all seven choirs, ranging in age from high school through adult. Performers gathered in New York for two days of intense rehearsal with Malfatti leading up to the dress rehearsal and performance on Saturday.
