Wheaton graduates from DePauw

Rachel Wheaton, a Mount Vernon High School graduate, participated in the 173rd commencement at DePauw University on May 20. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in sport and exercise science with minors in mathematics and education studies.
While at DePauw, Rachel was active in Alpha Chi Omega sorority, holding the position of assistant vice president of finance. Rachel earned four varsity letters in swimming while at DePauw. She was a member of the school and conference record-setting free relay. Rachel served as captain of the swim team her senior year and received the leadership award. She finished her swim career with the second fastest time in school history in the 100 free, third fastest time in the 200 free, and 10th fastest time in the 50 free.
She was a three-time Academic All-American honorable mention.
Rachel will begin pursuing her Masters of Arts Degree in teaching at Earlham College this summer.
