Cooper Noriega, the founder of the popular TikTok app, died this week. He was 19 years old at the time of the incident.
Noriega was pronounced dead on the scene in Burbank, California, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office. Coroner’s The medical examiner has requested more research into the death, including additional studies because the cause of death has not been determined.
Noriega amassed a following of over a million on TikTok, where he posted hilarious videos about skateboarding and fashion. He partnered with Jxdn and Nessa Barrett, two well-known TikTok performers, and musicians, and appeared on Dave Portnoy, Josh Richards, and Bri Chicken fry’s Barstool’s BFFs show.
The podcast’s Twitter account was the first to pay tribute to the adolescent, writing on the social media platform about the “devastating news.”
They posted, “RIP Cooper Noriega.” “Life is a precious commodity. Take it all in.”
The internet celebrity has already spoken up about his difficulties with mental illness and substance abuse to his admirers. Noriega’s mental health was emphasized in a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for burial expenses.
He announced a Discord server on Sunday, describing it as a “safe zone where people may vent and aid others through their bad times.”
“You may think I’m insane, but I’ve been suffering from addiction since I was nine years old,” he wrote. “I’d like to use the power I’ve been given to build a forum dedicated to raising awareness and normalizing mental illness conversation.”

“One of the many things I’ve learned while suffering from addiction is that surrounding yourself with negative people will only pull you down,” he continued, adding that one day he hoped to operate a clinic where patients “aren’t traumatized” following their stay.
“Come join if you’re serious about getting your emotions out, or anything,” he stated in a TikTok video. “I made [the server] out of my love for you guys and my own struggles with it. I’d like for you to know that you’re not alone and that you’re in good hands.”
