Mishael Morgan made history on Friday when she won the Outstanding Lead Actress award at the Daytime Emmys, making her the first Black actress to do so. On The Young and the Restless, she portrays Amanda Sinclair.
Morgan entered the stage after receiving a standing ovation and thanked her family and supporters before highlighting the importance of her victory.
She stated, “I was honored regardless of the color of my skin or the legitimacy of my passport for being the best at what I do. I was born on a tiny island in the Caribbean and I’m now standing on an international platform. Now that there are young girls all around the world, they can aim to be the best in any field or profession.
