John Hunchman, an ageing boy detective, and his stuck-in-his-highschool-glory-days sidekick David Purefoy are back on the case, but this time in their own FXX stand-alone series.

What will the second season of Dicktown be about?
John and David, the nerdy and financially strapped private detective and his handsome, meathead sidekick who still lives with his parents, will return in Season 2 of Dicktown with their oddball investigative high jinks and unlikely blossoming friendship as the nerdy and financially strapped private detective and his handsome, meathead sidekick who still lives with his parents.
John used to be Dicktown’s most famous child detective, solving Hardy Boys-style crimes, the most of which were perpetrated by none other than David, his now-best buddy and coworker. John, who appears to be on the verge of a midlife crisis, solves the bizarre and pointless riddles presented to him by the small town’s only paying clients, the local teenagers.
David, a former athlete who used to bully the young geeky John in school, now works as the awkward detective’s driver and muscle. David, used to his adolescent lifestyle, continues to live like the cool guy he was in high school, dating and trying to make a living while hanging out with John at the Lunch Hut.
The diabolical team solved mysteries including who was lurking in the shadows of famed cool-kid hangout Party Pines and why children were being trained to smash pianos rather than play them in Season 1. On John’s run-down boathouse deck, the best friends appear to always be looking out for one another while interpreting riddles, sharing inside jokes, and having psychedelic experiences.
Season 2 will see the pair cope with adulthood and continue to struggle to produce enough money to keep their business and home afloat, all while solving mysteries in the same title-card way as the first season. When the two are invited to a murder mystery party with people their age, they must demonstrate their superior sleuthing talents in order to acquire respect and potentially sponsorship from other adults.
The two will partner up with Taggy, a Charlie’s Angels-style voice who will give the guys leads on mysteries to solve via a toy robot, though perhaps this will lead to much bigger and better-paying cases than the missing pimento cheese recipe that they must uncover in Season 2’s opening episode. Taggy tells David and John that he can see them in high-stakes situations, fighting ninjas and fleeing by helicopter, but the two are still a long way from making that a reality as they hand out business cards to more teenagers, hoping to pique interest in their business among the same old clientele.
Night-vision goggles, camouflage to wear as they stake out locations, and animal costumes to go undercover in a possible play on the very cute and wildly popular social simulation video game Animal Crossing, the duo does make their return with some great new gear, including night-vision goggles, camouflage to wear as they stake out locations, and animal costumes to go undercover in a possible play on the very cute and wildly popular social simulation video game Animal Crossing. Audiences will watch as the two, one of whom may be dressed in anime costume, solve the case of a renegade school mascot wreaking havoc in the little town, as well as a slew of other seemingly irrelevant mysteries.
In Season 2, viewers will also be interested to see what is painted on the side of John’s houseboat, as well as whether or not a romance between him and his long-lost childhood detective pal Heather, who called John out for his childish antics after he revealed his actual thoughts. If you want to find out what additional mysteries lurk on Farmer Rigsbee’s strawberry patch, grab a lawn chair and a can of sodie-pop and tune in to Dicktown Season 2’s monthly releases.

Will there be any changes to the cast for Season 2?
Show founders John Hodgman and David Rees will reprise their roles as the financially insecure and out-of-touch detective John Hunchman and his ever-cool sidekick David Purefoy, while also serving as the series’ sole writers off-screen.
This season, Ronald Peet (First Reformed) will reprise his role as Tucker, a well-off and influential adolescent who is surrounded by electronics and computers while dressed in futuristic costume. He will undoubtedly help the poor John and David, who are still in need of financial aid.
Meg, the dry-humored record store cashier, will return in Season 2 for an incredibly violent and inappropriate musical mystery, so fans will certainly hear Anna Akana (Ant-Man) reprise her role as the blue-haired burnout. Several comedic guest stars appeared in Season 1, including Zach Galifianakis (Hangover), Stephen Toblowsky (Spaceballs), Kristen Schaal (Bob’s Burgers), and Jon Glaser (Bob’s Burgers) (Delocated). It’s unclear if these amusing actors will reprise their roles as Charlie, the alt-right cosplay reviewer, John’s mumble-rap mogul father, Heather, the mystic ghost lady, and Mark Tagliano, the ex-bully lawyer, due to the lack of a confirmed cast.
