    St. John’s Episcopal Church will resume a 10 a.m. worship time on Sunday. Summer hours begin the Sunday before Memorial Day.

  • Blessing of the Animals

    Blessing of the Animals
    Pet owners of Mount Vernon are invited to the second annual blessing of the animals at Trinity United Church of Christ on Sunday, Oct., 2, at 8 a.m. The service will take place in Trinity's courtyard unless rain forces everyone inside the fellowship hall. Access to the 30-minute service is through the white door on Fifth Street near Mulberry Street. Casual clothing is appropriate.
    Sociable animals may be brought on a leash. People with an aggressive pet are asked to keep it in a traveling container or to bring a photo of the animal.

    St. Philip Men’s Club Burgoo
    St. Philip Men's Club Annual Burgoo and Raffle will be held Sunday, Sept. 25. Drive-thru and carry-outs begin at 7:30 a.m. The cafeteria opens at 11 a.m. where there will be burgoo, hamburgers, pies and drinks. Also available will be raffle tickets with a Grand Prize of $20,000 and 20 other prizes. The drawing will be at 1:30 p.m.

  • First Baptist Church to host 'Sacred Marriage'

    First Baptist Church invites you to the ‘Sacred Marriage’ event beginning Sunday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. This six-session, weekly group study will explore how God uses His gift of marriage to grow us in holiness and maturity in Christ.
    Everyone is invited to attend, including those who are married, remarried, struggling, or desire to be married. This event will be held in our building at 1205 Main Street in Mount Vernon.   • First United Methodist Church to have booth at River Days

    The First United Methodist Church invites you to visit its booth at the Mount Vernon River Days event on Sept. 9-10. There will be fun activities and you may place your preschooler's name into the drawing to win a scholarship to Susanna Wesley Nursery School.
     

  • Zion Lippe presents 'Songs in the Son'

    Zion-Lippe United Church of Christ will present Songs in the Son 2011, a free music fest event featuring Donna Toler, Cindy Hollen, Zion Lippe Choir, Little Old Dam Band, St. Paul Praise Groups, River City Quartet, Valor III and Danen Kane.
    Songs of the Son will be held Sept. 17, 2-9 p.m. at Zion Lippe UCC, at the corner of Copperline and Ford roads.
    Love offerings will be accepted to help cover expenses.
    Dinners will be prepared by the ZZ Smokers and Zion church members.

  • St. Philip's annual Summer Social, Aug. 6-7

    The St. Philip Annual Summer Social is Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7. On Saturday, the fun will be from 5-10 p.m. A pork chop supper will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the social is from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. The chicken dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with dine-in or drive-thru carryout. Bulk barbecue sales will be available both days.

  • St. Matthew to host annual summer social


    St. Matthew will have its Summer Social on Sunday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a fried chicken or pork chop dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the air conditioned cafeteria located at Fourth and Mulberry streets.
    There will be a $10,000 raffle plus other money, and 11 handmade quilt raffles. There will be games and bouncy blow ups for children, live music, dunking booth, basket booth, a country store, Chinese auction, paddle wheel, burgers, brats, ice cream, lemon shake-ups, and more food.

  • First Baptist Church presents: Kimball Park Backyard Bible Club


    Mount Vernon First Baptist Church will host Kimball Park Backyard Bible Club every Wednesday in June, 5-7 p.m. with weather permitting.
