    You will want to attend the Alexandrian Public Library Family Storytime - Easter Egg Hunt on April 19 at 6 p.m. This is the library’s annual Easter egg program. Registration is required for this popular event.
    Bring the family and come for a fun-filled evening with jelly beans, bunnies, chicks and more. We will be making a basket for you to keep the eggs, so there is no need to bring one.
    Registration will end April 18 at 8 p.m. To register your child, call Youth Services at 838-3286 or register online at www.apl.lib.in.us.

    Library Silent Auction — April 8-9 from noon to 5 p.m. Instead of a book sale this April, the library will host a public silent auction. The auction will feature framed posters that formerly hung in the meeting rooms and surplus furniture and technology from the library. There are plenty of fantastic deals here.

    APL Book Sale Postponed — The Friends of the Alexandrian Public Library has made the decision to postpone its bi-annual book sale, a key fundraiser that helps pay for extra services at the library, slated for Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 until further notice. This event has been postponed, sadly, due to the limited number of books donated to the organization to make the sale the large-scale event the public has come to expect.

    The Laughs and Crafts Club — March 17, 24 and 31 - 3:45 p.m. This is a special club featuring interactive stories, games, and crafts for children in all school levels. Registration required.

    Babies/Toddlers Storytimes — March 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 9:30 a.m. This program is for children birth - 36 months and their caregivers. Program will include rhymes, fingerplays, music, and stories. Registration required.

    Sew Happy — March 9 and 23 at 10 a.m. “Sew Happy” is a gathering of crafters - we will meet at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month - unless the library is closed. If you quilt, knit, do tatting, crochet, etc. come and join the fun!

    Photography Show Registration Begins — March 10 at 9:00 a.m.  First day to enter photographs in the Honoring Posey County Photographers exhibition.

  • APL seeks Posey County artists for exhibit

    The library is in search of local amateur and professional talent working in oils, watercolors, acrylics and photography to display their work in the library foyer gallery. Artists need not live in the Mount Vernon area to participate, display and promote their work. The gallery has nine spaces and is limited to works of art that do not exceed 16”x20.” All submitted works of art must be ready for hanging. Exhibitions will change regularly and will run from 7 to 30 days unless otherwise arranged in advance. Space is now available for March and April exhibits.

    The New Harmony Business Associates invite artists to display or perform their fine arts at the fourth annual Arts in Harmony, an Open-Air Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Church Park.
    There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required. Go to www.newharmony.biz for an application and more information on Arts in Harmony. Applications are due by March 15.
