Regarding rumours of hostility between her and her sister Ashley, Wynonna Judd is putting the matter to rest.
In this week’s PEOPLE cover story, the 58-year-old country singer makes it clear that she and her 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress sister are in agreement about their late mother Naomi’s will.
I was told, “Hey, did you know that they’re saying this about you,” during my visit to Ashley’s home. For my part, I thought, “Huh? Why is it that Ashley and I are constantly at odds with one another? Oh. Again?’”
Wynonna can’t seem to escape the recollection. “What’s the fight about? I am enjoying my life. Ashley is having a great time. There is no point in arguing over who will do what.
Naomi Strickland, who was 76 years old when she committed suicide in April, designated her husband of 33 years, Larry Strickland, as the administrator of her estate, according to Wynonna.
Wynonna asserts that she and Ashley will “share” his estate after his passing and that she has no plans to contest his wishes.
She says, “I am the last person in this family to have any knowledge of anything like this, and I’d think Ashley would agree with me if she were here.” “ I don’t have the legal knowledge to say “I am disputing the will.” I simply didn’t consider it.
After the passing of their mother, Wynonna, whose father is Charles Jordan, and Ashley, whose father is Michael Cimenella, grew closer.
I’m an orphan, therefore I feel like we are bonded in a very special way, she explains. “ I had to rely on Ashley because I lost both of my parents.
She’s looking to me for support, but in a different, more sympathetic way. The problem is not that you are a successful, wise, and capable individual. Those two simple words, “I love you,” are everything. With one another, we are honest and kind.
We disagree on a lot of things as sisters, she continues. When the conversation turns to our mother, we both look at one other and concur, “She was quite the character.”
The sisters’ relationship has been troubled for a while, and they frequently argue with one another. The small 2012 wedding of Wynonna and Cactus Moser was missed by both Ashley and Naomi.
