Release Date for Season 2 of Five Days at Memorial
Fans are eagerly awaiting Five Days at Memorial’s second season. Everyone believes Season 2 will be even more successful than Season 1, which had a huge impact on Apple TV+ (should there be one). Since the events in the Memorial Medical Center following the flood were the centrepiece of the miniseries made for the series, there hasn’t been a renewal as of September 2022.
If there is a renewal, fans can expect Five Days at Memorial to air again sometime in 2023. Since Apple takes a while to notify renewals, there is little we can do but wait. We will keep you updated with any fresh information.
Does Five Days at Memorial depict a true event?
The miniseries Five Days at Memorial was created based on Sheri Fink’s book of the same name. The author contributed significantly to the screenplay adaptation of her book. In addition to her excellent work, Fink had a wealth of other information at her disposal. The design team was able to accurately portray the atmosphere at the hospital during Hurricane Katrina thanks to the images she had.
In late August 2005, Hurricane Katrina, an Atlantic Category 5 hurricane, mostly affected the city of New Orleans. The majority of the fatalities were caused by the hurricane, which also produced floods in the area of New Orleans. For weeks, about 80% of the city was under water. The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina at Memorial Medical Center was described by journalist Sheri Fink.
Her piece, which was published in the New York Times Magazine and earned her a Pulitzer Prize, is virtually expanded in the book. The events that occurred in the hospital were the subject of numerous rumours. One of them was that the hospital’s triage procedure required medical professionals to euthanize very ill patients who couldn’t be transferred or treated.
Five Days at Memorial took all of this to the big screen. It was initially intended to serve as the inspiration for the FX real crime series American Crime Story. Later, the plan was dropped, and Apple TV+ turned the book into a miniseries instead.
