Grillo portrays the antagonist of the Bangladesh Counter Intelligence Agency’s secret agent Rana, code name MR-9, in this film adaptation of the late author Qazi Anwar Hussain’s Rana novels. Most of the plot is being kept a secret.
The movie is an adaptation of Masud Rana’s debut book, Dhonghsho Pahar (Demolition Hill). In the James Bond franchise-inspired series, written by Hussain, 550 books have been published.
M-9 was created by the LA-based Al Bravo Films, the Bangladeshi production company Jaaz Multimedia, and MR-9 Films.
Al Bravo, Hemdee Kiwanuka, Colin Bates, Akbar, Philip Tan, and Abdul Aziz are the producers, with Niko Foster, Peter Nguyen, and Phillip B. Goldfine serving as executive producers. Akbar, Aziz, and Nazim Ud Daula have adapted the movie’s screenplay.
