Clive Barker started the Hellraiser franchise in 1987, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart. The first movie was a one-time flash of sadomasochistic craziness, contrary to what Pinhead’s sneer on the poster suggested—another generic, supernatural slasher.
Nine sequels were produced, although only two are worth seeing: Hellbound: Hellraiser II, which is more of a horror adventure than its predecessor, and Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, which marks the series’ entry into relative oblivion and also happens to star CD, one of the best Cenobites.
The Lament Configuration’s agony will inevitably repeat itself, and Hellraiser will make a comeback later this year, regardless of how well the sequels turned out.
Release year of Hellraiser: 2022
On October 7, 2022, Hellraiser 2022 will be made available in the US.
Hulu will provide Hellraiser for streaming, but as of August 2022, we don’t know who will be in charge of handling distribution in the UK.
Although it hasn’t been announced yet, Disney Plus, which has handled earlier Hulu releases in the UK, will presumably release Hellraiser 2022.
The Cast of Hellraiser
Doug Bradley usually plays the iconic Pinhead, but this time Jamie Clayton will play the sadistic role as a female Pinhead. Judging by the recently released photographs, this version of Pinhead looks fantastic and very terrifying. Fans may also be familiar with Clayton from her appearances in the third season of Designated Survivor, Netflix’s Sense8, and The L Word: Generation Q.
Odessa A’zion, who will play Riley, will be paired with Clayton. While looking for her missing brother, she will come across the puzzle box. A’zion has previously been in the CBS drama Fam, but her breakthrough performance in the Netflix series Grand Army will be remembered the most. Goran Vinji, best known for his roles in ER and Timeless, Brandon Flynn, who is most known for playing Justin in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, as well as Drew Starkey, who has been in Love, Simon, Outerbanks, The Hate You Give, and Scream: Ressurection, all play minor roles.
What’s the story in Hellraiser 2022?
While the specifics of Hellraiser 2022’s narrative are unknown, we do know that its main character will be a young lady who is battling addiction problems and who stumbles upon the antiquated puzzle box that summons everyone’s favourite interdimensional sadists, the cenobites. In addition, according to the movie’s producers, it will adhere to Clive Barker’s 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart’s plot more precisely than the original 1987 version.
Hellraiser (2022) includes a cast and crew with some noteworthy names. The Ritual and The Night House, two of director David Bruckner’s previous full-length films, both gained recognition for their compelling narratives, immersive production designs, and original visual interpretations of supernatural entities. Odessa A’zion (Fam, Grand Army), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why, Ratched), Drew Starkey (Love, Simon, Outer Banks), and Jamie Clayton (Sense8, The L Word: Generation Q), who will play the well-known villain Pinhead, are some of the actors who will be appearing on camera.

Can I watch Hellraiser online in Canada?
No indication exists that the new Cenobites will travel to Canada. Whether Hellraiser 2022 will be made available on Disney’s VOD service is yet unknown. A few months after their premiere outside of the US, Hulu Originals like Little Demon and Hellraiser 2022 usually make their way to the Disney Plus “Star” platform. If it changes, we’ll be sure to let you know here.
