This fall, IMAX and Pathé Live have formed a new agreement to bring Indochine, a French pop-rock band, to IMAX screens. The sold-out Indochine – Central Tour event at Groupama Stadium in Lyon, France, will be photographed using 22 IMAX-certified cameras on Saturday, June 25. When the rollout begins on November 23 in France and certain markets, this will be the first concert ever published using the Filmed for IMAX camera programme. The next day, it will only be shown in non-IMAX theatres for one evening. There are now 17 IMAX theatres in France.
The event will be held in Belgium, Switzerland, and other select areas outside of France, with more information to be disclosed in the coming weeks.
Indochine was founded in 1981 in Paris. With songs like “L’Aventurier” and “Canary Bay,” it became popular throughout the Francophonie, Europe, and Latin America in the 1980s. The band is the best-selling French band of all time, having sold over 13 million albums and singles.
The Central Tour, which is celebrating Indochine’s 40th anniversary, has sold over 400,000 tickets across six stadium events. It was unveiled in front of 97,036 fans at the Stade de France on May 21, setting a new attendance record for all events held at the renowned stadium (sport and concert events combined). The live spectacle comprises a 147-foot central tower and the world’s largest LED screen (27,000 sq ft/1,400 led panels) ever used in a live concert.
Hans Pannecoucke directed the concert film, which was produced by KMS, Sony Music, and JYL Productions and distributed exclusively in theatres by Pathé Live.
