For Warner Bros., Variety says that Jason Momoa may be going to the video game world of Minecraft for the company.
They are in talks to make a live-action movie based on the hugely popular Minecraft video game, which is the best-selling game of all time with more than 238 million copies sold since it came out in 2011.
‘Napoleon Dynamite‘ director Jared Hess will direct the movie. It will be made by Mary Parent and Roy Lee, and Jill Messick, who died in 2018, will get credit for working on the movie before her death. Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, and Jon Spaihts will run the show. In this case, Lydia Winters and Vu Bui from Mojang Studios, the Swedish video game company that made Minecraft, will make the movie.
Minecraft came out in 2011 and was a huge hit all over the world right away. Players can make their own 3D worlds out of colorful blocks by mining materials and making things like weapons and armor. In 2021, there were almost 140 million people who played the game every month. The game has been made for a lot of different video game systems, has spinoffs, and has won a lot of awards. For $2.5 billion in 2014, Microsoft bought Mojang Studios from a company called Mojang. This was one of the first big video game acquisitions.
It’s been years since a movie about Minecraft was in the works. Shawn Levy, Rob McElhenney, and Peter Sollett are all in talks to direct. There was a time when Steve Carell was going to star in an adaption of a book.
Next up for Momoa is “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which comes out on March 17, 2023. He’s also getting ready for “Fast and Furious 10,” which comes out on April 4, 2021.
The Ankler broke the news about the movie first. This is how you say it:
