Jerrod Carmichael has agreed to a two-year overall contract with the prestigious channel following the success of his widely publicised HBO programme Rothaniel. A brand-new stand-up comedy programme will star Carmichael. It would be his third appearance on HBO, following 2014’s Love at the Store, 2017’s 8 and this year’s Rothaniel. He’s expected to work on other projects as well. The contract is reportedly for somewhere in the eight figures, but nobody has said anything.
Working with Jerrod over the past ten years has been a truly wonderful privilege, according to Nina Rosenstein, EVP, HBO Programming. Every project we’ve collaborated on with him has seen him push the boundaries of humour in fresh and unexpected ways. He is smart and imaginative all the time. Because of his most recent special, Rothaniel, we are excited to keep working with him.

In the acclaimed and deeply personal movie Rothaniel, which he also wrote, executive produced, and starred in, Carmichael most recently came out as gay. Ramy and The Carmichael Show, both of which he co-hosted, are just two of the notable recent ventures the comedian has produced and created. Carmichael is represented by Range Media Partners, WME, ID, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
