The definition of perseverance is making an ongoing effort to do or accomplish anything despite obstacles, failure, or opposition.
Since he arrived to Ohio State in the summer of 2018, Kamryn Babb has been the epitome of that phrase: a quick, talented youngster from St. Louis who is about to have his first taste of life away from home.
Babb’s ACL injury occurred during his senior year of high school, but Ohio State’s coaching staff nevertheless honoured his scholarship because the expectations for the top-ranked wide receiver prospect in the Buckeyes’ 2018 class were extremely high.
Babb would eventually suffer a number of injuries, which would ruin his once bright football future.
Babb missed the entire 2018 season as well as the entire 2019 season due to two different ACL tears. He returned to the field in 2020 after a difficult recuperation, participating in seven games but only partially.
Babb returned to play in the spring of 2021, but he was dealt another blow when he tore his ACL for the fourth time overall and the third time in his Buckeye career.
In a 2021 interview with Cleveland.com, Babb said, “Some people will think, OK, four ACLs, it’s time to give up.” But since I am aware of the God I serve, I ask, “Why not me?”
Babb carried that attitude into this season and made every effort to get back on the field. He through yet another arduous rehab procedure, but in the end, he gained the utmost respect from his teammates, earning the title of team captain and Ohio State’s Block O award, which was instituted two years ago to honour the legacy of former All-American Bill Willis.

Babb was considered a long shot by everyone, barring Babb himself, to have an impact this season despite playing behind arguably the most talented wide receiver corps in the country.
In the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against Indiana, the Buckeyes had a commanding 49-14 lead. Babb then entered the action. The events that followed might go down as one of Ohio State’s season’s most memorable moments.
Babb received his first college grab with 8:52 left in the game when Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud dropped back and perfectly placed a pass to him in the end zone. It was only fitting that the catch resulted in a touchdown.
After celebrating by flinging his hands in the air, the senior receiver ran to the back of the end zone and sat down in a prayer position. He looked up at the sky, dropped to the ground, and gave her a kiss.
As soon as the rest of the offence joined in the celebration, Stroud sprinted over to give his good pal a hug. Ryan Day, the head coach of Ohio State, raised his hands in the air as Babb dashed to the sidelines and jumped into the arms of teammate wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Babb was greeted by every member of the Ohio State team, who were all aware of the struggles he had to go through to reach this point. Babb was showered with hugs from his teammates.
Gus Johnson of FOX Sports said in the broadcast, “It doesn’t matter who was on the field. It was Kamryn Babb who got the playcall.

It was a touching moment for Babb, who later hugged his mother deeply after the game.
What happened on Saturday in the “Shoe” will live on in the minds of Ohio State fans no matter how this season turns out for the No. 2-ranked team in the country with hopes of winning the national title.
After the game, Stroud praised Babb, saying, “He’s the most respected man on our team, and I’m just very happy of him.” He is supported by this team, and we are supported by him.
