In May 2016, he was featured on French Montana’s single “Lockjaw,” which reached number 23 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and was taken from his 21st mixtape MC4. In August 2016, Kodak Black’s track “Skrt” debuted at number 10 on Billboard’s “Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles” list.

Private Life

Kodak Black announced in 2014 that he was attending Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach to complete his high school graduation. After studying scripture with a priest who does prison ministry, Kodak Black began to identify as a Hebrew Israelite while incarcerated.

He eventually changed his name to Bill Kahan Blanco, with Kahan allegedly being an alternate spelling of kohen, a term used in Judaism to designate to priests descended from Aaron, Moses’ brother.

He legally changed his name from “Dieuson Octave” to “Bill Kahan Kapri” on May 2, 2018. While incarcerated, Kodak Black received his GED in June 2018.

He was shot outside a Los Angeles Italian restaurant where Justin Bieber was throwing a Super Bowl-week party on February 12, 2022.

Kodak Black gave $10,000 to the Jack and Jill Children’s Center, a provider of early childhood education, on October 1. He revealed in November 2018 that he was constructing a school in Haiti.
