The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has energized the entertainment sector, and singer Lizzo is leading the effort by saying today that she will support the cause.
Lizzo announced on social media that she will give Planned Parenthood $500,000 from her upcoming “Special Tour.”
A $1 million donation will be made overall thanks to Live Nation, the tour’s promoter, matching that sum.
Live Nation has made two donations in the last two months. It joined forces with Harry Styles in May to advocate for the reduction of gun violence. Live Nation will match the first $1 million in donations made as a result of the tour’s earnings.
In September, Lizzo launches her tour alongside Latto as the opening act.
