After a brief illness, still, photographer Lorey Sebastian passed away in New Mexico on May 9. She had worked on films like Crash, Twilight, Wild Hogs, Blow, St. Elmo’s Fire, I Am Sam, In the Valley of Elah, and A Million Ways to Die in the West. She was 78.
Before relocating to Los Angeles, Sebastian was born in 1944 in New York City. When she worked as the stills photographer on the set of Joan Micklin Silver’s movie Between The Lines in 1977, she began her professional career. She has well over 100 credits to her resume, including work with Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, 2016), Sam Mendes (American Beauty, 1999), Joel and Ethan Coen (True Grit), and Joel and Ethan Coen.

She spent her later years in Truchas, New Mexico, where she had retired, after a brief marriage to John Sebastian of the Loving Spoonful. She adored dogs and took them on all of her trips. Her two dogs, who were adopted by friends, survived Sebastian.
