Adam Sandler has recently made headlines for his serious performances in Hustle and Uncut Gems, but in March he’ll be recognised for his comedic beginnings. The actor and former cast member of Saturday Night Live will receive the 24th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, according to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
At a gala concert on March 19 at Manhattan’s Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the award will be given out. Broadcast information is pending.
According to Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter, “Adam Sandler has captivated audiences for almost three decades with his films, songs, and his career as a fan-favorite cast member on SNL.” “Adam has developed personalities that have made us laugh until we cried and laugh until we cried.”

A five-time nominee for an Emmy, Sandler began his career with a four-episode run on The Cosby Show, at the time television’s top show, before joining the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1990. He rose to prominence the following year, earning laughs for his silly original songs like “The Chanukah Song” and “The Thanksgiving Song,” and during the course of his five-season run, he played such iconic roles as Cajun Man, Opera Man, and Canteen Boy.
In 1995, Billy Madison launched his film career into overdrive. Soon after, he appeared in Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, 50 First Dates, The Longest Yard, Little Nicky Grown Ups, and its sequel, among other roles, and voiced Dracula in the first three Hotel Transylvania movies. In addition, he developed or wrote numerous of those images.
After that, he signed a ground-breaking megadeal in 2014 to produce and appear in movies for Netflix, starting with The Ridiculous 6 in 2016 and continuing with Sandy Wexler, The Do-Over, and other movies. He renewed his contract with the streamer for four additional movies in 2020.
