During the band’s performance in New York, 1975’s lead singer Matty Healy brought raw flesh onto the stage. It was a big deal when the British singer took out a piece of red flesh during a performance at Madison Square Garden.

Healy consumed the meat in an undressed state before crawling across the stage on his hands and knees. For 1975 fans, this wasn’t a brand-new performance because they are accustomed to watching Healy perform insane feats. Healy’s mother, actress Denise Welch, even tweeted that she had observed him acting oddly.
She tweeted, “I witnessed that, too,” along with three crying-laughing emojis in response to a journalist who said, “There is no way I could ever explain to my 18-year-old self that I just saw Matty Healy grope himself onstage and eat a raw steak before crawling into a TV.”
As part of an Amazon Music UK event, the concert was broadcast on Twitch so viewers outside of New York could see it as well.

The group’s fifth studio album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, was released last month, and they are currently on tour. This is only the third stop on the tour, which got underway in Connecticut on November 3. The band’s North American tour will come to a close in Pittsburgh on December 17.
