Miles Teller is in favour of going back to the Top Gun world. On Thursday, when he was one of the famous people that descended on South Lake Tahoe for the American Century Championship sponsored by American Century Investments, ET’s Kevin Frazier chatted with the 35-year-old star from Top Gun: Maverick.
He remarked, “That would be fantastic, but that’s all up to TC,” referring to Tom Cruise, who appeared in both 1986 original and the 2017 follow-up. “All depends on Tom. He and I have been talking about it recently. We shall see.”
Whether or not Top Gun 3 materializes, Teller is aware that he and Cruise have grown close. In fact, Teller “wrote him a note the other day on his birthday.”
Teller lauded Cruise, who appeared in the movie alongside Jay Ellis, Glen Powell, and other young performers. “For him to share Top Gun with me and a lot of these other young actors it’s just been such a wild trip, and it’s still continuing,” Teller said.

One unique aspect of the Top Gun: Maverick release is that it gave Cruise his first $1 billion films. Teller joked with ET, “That’s absolutely what my staff has been saying for these future discussions.”
Teller has spoken candidly about Top Gun: Maverick’s success before. The experience has “been wonderful,” he previously told ET.
He said, “I’ve never actually encountered something like this in my life. It’s a pretty fantastic sensation, I tell you.
