  • Maurice 'Lefty' Reising, 91

    Maurice J. “Lefty” Reising, 91, a life-long resident of Poseyville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Ind.
    He was born Sept. 17, 1919, the fourth of five children of Nicholas and Katherine (Emge) Reising.
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lajuan (Forler) Reising; and his children, Gwendolyn Scott of Fort Collins, Colo., Dr. Gregory Reising of Towson, Md., Dr. Gabriel Reising of Yorktown, Ind., and Gayle Reising of Denver, Colo.; his youngest brother, Thelman Reising; and five grandchildren.

  • Mary Jane Moeller, 90

    Mary Jane Moeller, 90, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 15, 1920, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Arthur J. and Stella (Pfister) Barter.
    Mary Jane was preceded in death by husband, Paul W. Moeller; sister, Paula Dixon; and brother, Robert Barter.
    She is survived by son, Eric P. Moeller of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
    Funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 29 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes-Meyer Chapel with the Rev. George Stiles officiating.

  • David E. True, 47

    David E.  True, 47, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at his home.  He was born June 23, 1963 in Greenville, Ill.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, James L. True; stepfather, Bob Van Buren; and nephew, Jonathan Koester.
    David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laurie S. (Kempf) True; son, David M. True; daughter, Stacy True; three grandchildren, all of Evansville; father, Lewis True and wife, Diann of Indianapolis; mother, C. Jean VanBuren; brother, Roy True of Indianapolis; sister, Sonia Keepes of Evansville; and two step-sisters.

  • Naomi H. Foster, 82

    Naomi H. Foster, 82 of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2011 at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 15, 1928, in Union County, Ky. to Richard and Rebecca Carrier.

    Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mount Vernon, with Rev. Leon Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.

  • Wilbur 'Bill' Sparling, 67

    Bill Sparling, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
    Visitation is Saturday, Jan. 22 at Schneider Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Posey Humane Society.

  • William 'Bud' Moore Sr., 86

    William H. “Bud” Moore Sr., 86, of Cynthiana, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
    He was born Aug. 9, 1924, the son of Jesse and Clara (Caldwell) Moore, in Gibson County near Patoka.
    Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of more than 63 years, Frances “Bonnie” (East) Moore on Dec. 31, 2008; two sisters, Lois Titzer of Manassas, Va. and Beulah Straw of Owensville, Ind.

  • Naomi Jean Foster, 87

    Naomi Jean Foster, 87, of New Harmony, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at the Charles Ford Memorial Home.
    Naomi was born Aug. 21, 1923 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary (Benthall) Phillips;
    Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Foster in 1979; and by her parents Wilfred and Mary Phillips.

  • Alice Ragsdale, 67

    Alice Ragsdale, 67, of Evansville, died, Jan. 12, 2011, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. She was born July 31, 1943, in Evansville to the late Cecil and Mary Barritt.
    Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Barritt.
    She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary Ragsdale; daughters, Marla Bunch, Valerie Hufford and Carmen Combs; sons, Patrick Ragsdale and Michael Ragsdale; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil Allen Barritt; and sisters, Gale Roach and Sue Overton.

  • Janice Mann, 91

    Janice Louise Mann, 91, of New Harmony, died on Jan. 7, 2011 at New Harmonie Healthcare.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Henry Mann.
    Janice is survived by two daughters, Susie Mann of Evansville, and Joan Siers of Mount Vernon; four sons, Donald W. and John D. Mann, both of New Harmony, Billy Joe Mann of Mount Vernon, and Michael Mann of Evansville; a sister, Imogene Wade of Evansville; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

  • Charles 'Charlie' Brass, 85

    Charles “Charlie” Brass, 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Mt. Vernon nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 14, 1925 in Posey County, IN to Peter and Anna (Moore) Brass.
    Charlie was a member of Salem United Church of Christ Heusler. He was a self employed Farmer and was a lifetime member of the Eagles.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Kenneth Brass; and sisters, Elizabeth Apley, Pauline Hinkle, and Bernise Reine.
