Netflix is seeking a group of broke aspirants to compete in a series of lethal children’s games for a cash prize.
Not nearly, to be honest.
The streaming behemoth announced today that it would revive the global success ‘Squid Game‘ with ‘Squid Game: The Challenge,’ which it describes as “the biggest reality competition ever.”
For a life-changing prize of €4.3 million, Netflix is searching for 456 participants to compete in a round of games inspired by the successful Korean show – plus a few new elements.
However, one important aspect of Hwang Dong-original hyuk’s scripted drama is missing: the contestants will not be injured.
“Director Hwang’s engaging plot and striking graphics made Squid Game a worldwide phenomenon. We appreciate his help as we bring the imaginary world to life in this major competition and social experiment,” adds Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s Vice President of Unscripted and Documentary Series.
“Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable adventure as our 456 real-life contestants traverse the biggest competition series ever, full of suspense and turns, and culminating in the biggest cash prize ever.”
What can we expect from the upcoming reality show ‘Squid Game’?
The prize for ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ is the largest in reality TV history, and it’s meant to test tactics, alliances, and character.
Netflix is looking for an international cohort of competitors for the 10-episode series, which will be filmed in the United Kingdom.

‘Squid Game’ was just renewed for a second season, which is a rare occurrence in Korean television.
