  • Letter to the Editor: Organization grateful for Mount Vernon contribution

I’m writing to thank Mount Vernon residents for their generosity in helping thousands of suffering children worldwide this Christmas. Through their efforts, we were able to collect 473 shoeboxes—filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items—for Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. These simple gift-filled shoeboxes communicate to needy children that they are loved and not forgotten.

  • Thanks for successful benefit game
  • Thanks to UMC for kindness during holidays

We wish to express our thanks to the United Methodist Church for their kindness during the holiday season. Thanksgiving, we were served a hot meal, and Christmas, we were given a basket of food. What a thoughtful way to be remembered.
Thank you so much. It helped so much to make Thanksgiving and Christmas so much brighter. May God richly bless you for your kindness to us.
    Sincerely,
    The Village Apartments residents

  • MSD of North Posey thanks United Way

MSD of North Posey would like to thank the United Way of Posey County for including our School Resource Officer and Prevention of Violence program in their Invest1213 matching grant program as part of this year’s United Way Campaign.  The school corporation recognizes that any new United Way contributions or an increase of one-hundred dollars or more in an annual contribution is matched by this grant program provided in collaboration with the Indiana Association of United Ways.

  • Thanks United Way volunteers

I am writing today to say thank you to all the people in our community who are volunteers for the United Way campaign this year.  These individuals are giving their time and efforts to help our United Way in Posey County reach its goal of $670,000 so that the agencies and programs can continue to be available for all the people of Posey County.

  • Resident thanks athletes for help during service event

A big thanks to the athletics volunteer day. Four of the volunteers came and moved all outside things inside for the winter season. They made very short work of the job. It was a small job for them, but it would be a major job for me.  At 84  just about any job is a major job. Again a big thanks to the Mt. Vernon athletics.

  • Support your Posey County United Way

Supporting your local United Way can make a significant difference in the lives of children through the funding of a social worker for the MSD of Mt. Vernon. Our community currently provides many services to students and families in need. However, through the addition of a social worker, schools are able to be much more proactive in developing solutions for our at-risk children and families.

  • Bluff City Wrestling thanks poker run supporters

Bluff City Wrestling held its 6th Annual Poker Run this past weekend and would like to thank everyone for making it another successful year. We would also like to thank our local businesses for donating to our event - McKims IGA, Koodie Hoo's, Guilty Pleasures, Dairy Queen, McDonalds, Weinzapfels and WEVV, Schneiders. Big thank you to the Pate, Gorman, Konrath, Simpson, Schneider, Angel and Bethel families for all their hard work.
