Pachinko is the type of epic story that could easily go wrong on screen, yet Apple TV+’s version has defied the odds to become one of the best shows of the year.
Soo Hugh’s unique approach to the topic is responsible for much of this. Pachinko’s showrunner decided to merge numerous histories together, producing a mesmerising tapestry of Sunja’s life across multiple generations at once, rather than using the same chronological approach as author Min Jin Lee did in the book.
As effective as this strategy is, it will only work if Pachinko is brought back for the numerous seasons it deserves. Hugh thankfully intends to continue the programme for a total of four seasons, and Apple has now announced that season two is in the works (via Deadline).
“There’s no way you could or should tell the story of the novel in one season,” she told Variety. “It would be an insult to the book’s achievements. We want to live with all of our characters and go on this path of discovering what it is to be alive. That was always the goal when we were filming the episode. Season two has our fingers crossed.”
It has now been confirmed! So join us here at Digital Spy as we discuss Pachinko season two on Apple TV+.
Pachinko Season 2 Release Date
Pachinko is an American drama television series that premiered on March 25, 2022, and is one of the most popular. This sitcom gained enormous success after only a few episodes, and it now has a second season, Season 2. The fans are highly enthusiastic about Pachinko Season 2, and they are waiting to learn when it will be released. Pachinko Season 2 is expected to be released in the year 2022. However, these are only hypotheses. As a result, we’ll have to wait for formal word on the Pachinko Season 2 release date.
Who will return in Season 2 of Pachinko?
Youn Yuh-jung (as Kim Sunja), Kim Min-ha (as young Sunja), and Lee Min-ho (as Koh Hansu) are all but certain to return, with the following cast members expected to join them:
• Baek Mozasu is played by Soji Arai; Solomon Baek is played by Jin Ha; Baek Yoseb is played by Han Jun-woo; Kyunghee is played by Jung Eun-chae.
• Felice Choi as Kyunghee’s mother
• Baek Isak is played by Steve Sanghyun Noh, and Naomi is played by Anna Sawai.
New characters, including younger and older versions of characters we met in season one, could also appear.
Plot of Pachinko Season 2
The viewers will be able to watch the characters’ personal evolution in Pachinko Season 2. This is something that Lee Min-ho also mentioned in an interview. Sunja became self-sufficient by selling kimchi at the end of the first season, which spectators witnessed. It is assumed that with this profession, she will be able to keep her family secure while her husband remains in prison.
Until date, the series has faithfully followed the plot of the novel. However, there are several unexpected twists and turns, such as Naomi’s entrance, which are not included in the novel. Pachinko Season 2 can also have some unexpected twists. One thing is certain: in the second season of Pachinko, little Noa will play a bigger part. The first season was extremely emotional, and the second season is likely to be equally so. Kyunghee, played by Eun-Chae Jung, will get stronger and mature further in the second season. Because of their young age, the brotherhood between Noa and Mozasu could not be effectively captured in the first season. The spectators will be able to see the mystical link of their brotherhood in the second season. Their union is something that spectators might anticipate, and it was also evident in the book. This is definitely a spoiler for the second season.
Pachinko Season 2’s stakes are high, and it will be more dramatic than the first season. Because the tale will continue to develop, the scale and stakes for the second season will be very high. The first season was unquestionably amazing, and viewers should expect nothing less in the second.
