Paul Giamatti Joins Season 2 Cast Of HBO Max’s ‘30 Coins’

The Spanish mystery-horror series 30 Coins has added Paul Giamatti to its roster. The show debuted on HBO Max in 2020 and was recently renewed for a second season. The eight-part Season 2 is currently in development in Spain, Italy, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, with a 2023 launch date set for HBO Max internationally and HBO in the United States.

The exorcist, boxer, and ex-convict Father Vergara is the focus of the series, which was created by Lex de la Iglesia and Jorge Guerricaechevarra. Father Vergara is banished by the church to a small hamlet in Spain. He is connected to a string of eerie supernatural occurrences in the community, and along with Paco, the town’s gullible mayor, and Elena, a restless veterinarian, they are drawn into a worldwide plot involving a conflict over the cursed magical artifacts known as the 30 silver pieces paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus of Nazareth. These artefacts are full of unfathomable power and are cursed.

Giamatti plays Christian Barbrow in Season 2, a tech and business millionaire from the United States who is also an expert in science, a sci-fi author, and the leader of a shadowy brotherhood that includes the world’s elite among its members. He is the master disruptor, yet no one is aware of his genuine motivations.

He joins Najwa Nimri, another Season 2 newcomer, and returning cast members Miguel ngel Silvestre, Megan Montaner, and Eduard Fernández.
