Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard hasn’t even ended yet, and Paramount has already announced Star Trek: Picard season 3. Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard is the ninth Star Trek instalment based on Star Trek: The Next Generation. It tells the narrative of Patrick Stewart as he approaches the end of his life.
The show’s first two seasons earned good reviews from reviewers and fans alike. The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard is now available. If you’re looking for the Star Trek: Picard season 3 premiere date, this article is for you.
Star Trek Picard Season 3: Release Date
Season three of Star Trek: Picard has yet to be announced, but production, filming, and shooting began simultaneously in 2020 for seasons two and three. Keep in mind that Star Trek: Picard’s second season began in March 2022, two years after the first. It’s still on the air. Jonathan Frakes and Terry Matalas are directing season three, which is set to premiere in early 2023.
Season 3 cast of Star Trek: Picard
When it comes to the cast for the last season, there are no fewer than six recognisable names from the Next Generation set to return to the Star Trek universe.
Lt Commander Geordi La Forge and Worf will be played by LeVar Burton and Michael Dorn, respectively, while Dr. Beverly Crusher will be played by Gates McFadden.
Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner, who have all made brief appearances in the series thus far, will all play parts in the final season.
“I recall seeing Star Trek: The Next Generation premiere with my father about 34 years ago like it was yesterday.” When the news was first announced in April, season three showrunner and executive producer Terry Matalas noted, “It was the spark that kindled my love for science fiction.”
“It’s only natural, then, that Jean-Luc Picard’s journey concludes with his fondest and most devoted companions from the USS Enterprise. To say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honour is an understatement. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to see the third season’s final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure!”
Naturally, Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as the title character, but Alison Pill, who played Agnes Jurati on the show, has announced that she would not be returning for the final season.
“I know season three will be the final season. She told MovieWeb, “I wasn’t a part of season three, so I don’t have anything to say about it in terms of spoilers.” “I’ll be able to watch alongside everyone else.”
It’s unknown who else will return for the final season, but we expect Isa Briones, Harry Treadaway, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, and Evan Evagora to appear, with Whoopi Goldberg reprising her role as Guinan.
Star Trek: Picard season 3 plot
Patrick Stewart teased how the Next Generation crew will return in season three in an interview with EW following the season two finale:
“We’ll meet up with them, but it won’t be a reunion.” It’s not just a get-together. Everyone has a purpose, and that’s basically all I’m allowed to say because I’m really looking forward to season 3. And, of course, a lot of it will revolve around the evolution of characters we’ve known for a long time.” For the time being, more concrete story points are elusive, though Stewart did hint that season three could be the most intriguing of all:
“One of the first things I remarked when I read the ending of Season 2 for the first time was, ‘Where the heck are we going from here?’ Because it appeared as if there was a resolution.

“For a brief period, I wondered, ‘Oh gosh, are we going to wrap early and the show would vanish?’ However, we did not. Season three, in many ways, proved to be among the most intriguing episodes and moments of the entire show.”
But, beyond that, what does the future hold? Will Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Jean-Luc after season three? The celebrity was asked the same question by Variety, to which he replied:
“I believe Picard has finished his sentence and turned away from his companions.” I believe the way we end season three is ideal. Perfect. It makes me cry every time I think about it, but it’s fantastic.”
