The charges against Ricky Martin are “untrue” and “disgusting,” the singer says fiercely, and he denies having a relationship with his nephew for several months.
Marty Singer, the singer’s attorney, says in a statement to ET: “Unfortunately, the person who made this accusation is battling with serious mental health issues.” Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any type of romantic or sexual relationship with his nephew, continued Singer.
The premise is nasty in addition to being false, he continued. “We all hope that this man receives the immediate assistance he requires. But above all, we eagerly anticipate the judge dismissing this terrible case as soon as he or she has a chance to review the evidence.”
Multiple sources from Puerto Rico claim that Martin and the nephew had a seven-month relationship. Furthermore, the nephew claims that following his supposed breakup with Martin, he became the object of physical and psychological assaults.
According to reports, the punishment for this offense in Puerto Rico is 50 years in prison because it is regarded as incest. Martin’s brother, Eric Martin, reportedly stated that a nephew with mental health issues is the source of the charges.
A judge in Puerto Rico granted a restraining order against Martin earlier this month as a result of a domestic abuse complaint, though it’s unclear who really requested the order.
In a prior statement, Martin’s representatives also refuted the claims of the restraining order.
According to attorneys representing Martin, “the claims against Ricky Martin that resulted in a protective order are absolutely untrue and contrived.” “We are extremely certain that our client Ricky Martin will be totally vindicated when the true facts in this situation come out,” the statement continued.
Martin posted on social media the day after the judge granted the restraining order, writing, “The protection order imposed against me is based on absolutely false charges, so I will reply through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that distinguishes me.” Added he, “I am unable to make any statements at this moment because the legal situation is still pending. I am deeply appreciative of the innumerable expressions of support and accept them with open arms.”
