As part of Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, Riley Keogh, Elvis Presley‘s great-granddaughter, gave a first glimpse at the upcoming Baz Luhrmann biopic about the King of Rock & Roll. As she entered the stage to show a never-before-seen clip from the film, Riley reflected on her grandfather’s legacy.
“In 1954, a young Mississippian walked into sun records and permanently changed music. My grandfather was that dude. The world around me was impacted by his existence even if we never had the chance to meet “Shared with Keough.
In order to capture an iconic character such as Elvis, “but happily, the visual genius Baz Luhrmann was up to the challenge,” she said. Austin Butler’s fascinating performance brought my family’s history to life, and I’m grateful to have this story in his hands.”
In the exclusive footage itself, audiences were able to see Butler’s portrayal and Luhrmann’s unique, kinetic visual style in action as they were shown one of the iconic artist’s most important and notorious concerts.
Following the footage, Keough introduced a special performance by Diplo and Swae Lee of “Tupelo Shuffle” from the upcoming biopic’s soundtrack.

Gorgeous, if not breathtaking “Elvis Presley remarked this before admiring Austin Butler’s performance in the film.. “It was a pleasure to watch Austin Butler portray my father’s innermost thoughts and feelings. His act, in my opinion, is unprecedented and finally done correctly and properly. (I’ll eat my own foot if he doesn’t get an Oscar for this.)”
