Shakira and her longtime lover, Gerard Piqué of FC Barcelona, have called it quits. The singer and soccer player has issued a joint statement confirming the news, which ET has obtained.
The joint statement stated, “We regret to confirm that we are divorcing.” “At this time, we want privacy for the sake of our children’s safety, which is our top priority.” “I appreciate your patience and respect in advance.”
Shakira allegedly spotted Piqué cheating, according to the Spanish publication EL PERI DICO. Piqué has apparently been living in a bachelor pad away from his family, according to the site. According to the same article, Shakira’s new song “Te Felicito” (“Congratulations”), which she co-wrote with Rauw Alejandro, seems to hint at the turmoil in paradise.
“For complete you, I broke into pieces,” says one of the English-translated songs. They cautioned me, but I ignored their warnings. Yours is incorrect, I discovered. The drop had caused the glass to overflow. Don’t say you’re sorry; it may appear honest, but I know you’re lying.”
Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, are the 45-year-old singer’s and soccer player’s sons. On the set of her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” Shakira and Piqué met. The anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup was this song. In 2011, the couple declared their love.

Shakira has remained silent on the split on any of her social media platforms. She did, however, tweet a photo of herself kissing her sick father on the face early Saturday morning.
“Guys, I’m getting a lot of messages of concern that I was recently seen in an ambulance in Barcelona,” she wrote in a note linked to the tweet. I just wanted to let you know that those images were taken last weekend (the 28th), when my father regrettably had a nasty fall and I had to accompany him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is currently healing.”
