Disney executive Peter Rice has been sacked. Rice is the chairman of Disney General Entertainment Content, where he has been a recognized figure since joining the studio after it acquired Fox.
We’ve heard that Dana Walden, the Chairman of Entertainment for Walt Disney Television, will succeed him.
Both are highly regarded executives, and Rice has spent the last few months fending off allegations that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav was about to appoint him to oversee the entertainment division for him. Rice dropped out of the running when it became evident that Zaslav wanted executives to report directly to him, making this a complete surprise.

Rice only recently signed a new deal. Meanwhile, Walden’s contract with Disney had come to an end this year, and she had been negotiating a new one with the studio for the past few months. In the end, Disney CEO Bob Chapek had to choose between the two leaders, and he chose wisely.
