On the children’s television programme “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” from the 1990s, Jason David Frank portrayed Tommy Oliver, the Green Power Ranger. He was 49.
Frank’s manager Justine Hunt announced his passing in a statement on Sunday. She pleaded for “privacy of his family and friends during this dreadful time as we come to terms with the loss of such a lovely human being,” but she did not specify the cause of death or the exact moment he passed away.
The original Black Power Ranger, Walter Emmanuel Jones, who featured alongside Frank in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” expressed his shock on Instagram. Jones commented, “My heart is saddened to have lost another member of our precious family. The first Yellow Power Ranger, Thuy Trang, passed away in a car accident in 2001 at the age of 27.

Five teens are assigned to protect Earth from evil in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” which made its television premiere on Fox in 1993 and went on to become a cultural sensation. Frank’s Tommy Oliver was first portrayed as a villain in the first season after being brainwashed by the wicked Rita Repulsa. But soon after, he was accepted into the team as the Green Ranger and rose to prominence as one of the show’s most loved characters.
Frank was eventually reinstated as the White Ranger and the team’s leader, even though his position wasn’t meant to be permanent. Tommy Oliver, who played Frank in the original TV series, also appeared in spinoffs as the Red Zeo Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger, and the Black Dino Ranger. Additionally, he portrayed him in the movies “Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie” and “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie,” and he made a surprise appearance in the 2017 revival “Power Rangers.”
