Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard is nearing the end, with eight episodes already released and only two more to go. This season, which has taken Sir Patrick Stewart’s titular captain on a mission through time to stop the diabolical Q, is the show’s halfway point, with the final season already announced and in the works.
The eighth episode, Mercy, was released last Friday on Amazon Prime Video, and the ninth, Hide and Seek, will be released this week. Despite the fact that the season is nearing its conclusion, Trek fans need not fear: in addition to the third season of Picard, a new Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds, is in the works for release later this year. The next episode of Star Trek: Picard season 2 is due to air on Friday, so here’s a complete list of the show’s upcoming episodes.
The release date for the second season of Star Trek: Picard
The second season of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on March 3rd.
There will, however, be a catch.
This is the only official release date we have, which is linked to the show’s Paramount+ affiliation. Picard, on the other hand, is produced in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, unlike its shipmate Star Trek: Discovery, which was abruptly yanked from Netflix ahead of the season four debut.
As a result, it’s expected that the show will air as usual the next day on the streaming service worldwide, including in the United Kingdom. We pledge to keep you informed if anything changes. Furthermore, the team has announced that season three will be released, with Sir Patrick confirming the news. Season two had some scenes that were filmed in tandem with season one.
The plot of Star Trek: Picard season 2
Picard and his crew must travel to the twenty-first century to defend the future from a totalitarian tyranny, according to the trailer. And here’s the kicker: Picard’s replica is in charge of that government, which means Patrick Stewart will almost certainly be pitted against… Patrick Stewart in a spectacular fight sequence. So, there’s a lot going on here, and the stakes are really high.
In terms of what we’d like to see, we hope that, like Discovery, Star Trek’s central premise of diversity continues to include queer people in future episodes. Initially, this was Picard’s one major blunder, but the season one finale corrected this by revealing Seven of Nine is queer. Let’s just hope her character isn’t relegated to the background in future episodes.
She appears to be having an identity problem in the season two teaser, as she is seen staring into a mirror, pondering on her life and career. Later seasons of Picard will undoubtedly include references to the larger Star Trek universe, despite the show’s lack of emphasis on these connections thus far. More on how Picard’s conclusion may have set up Discovery’s third season may be found here.
Whatever happens, Picard’s emotional odyssey will undoubtedly continue. Stewart told IndieWire, “I had made it very plain from the beginning that I wasn’t interested in stepping back into the uniform and sitting in the captain’s chair and shouting ‘Make it so,’ and all of that.” “We must have been in a different universe.”
Real-world relevance will also be a consideration. “I believe it is totally fitting that there should be echoes of today’s world,” Stewart stated. “Because, in my opinion, the world we live in now is in a really terrible and terrifying state.”
Season 2 cast of Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Picard naturally finds famous actor Patrick Stewart resuming his role as Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation in his later years.
He isn’t alone, however, as a slew of celebrities are expected to join him for the upcoming season. Alison Pill will play Agnes Jurati, Jeri Ryan will play Seven of Nine, Michelle Hurd will play Raffi Musiker, Evan Evagora will play Elnor, Orla Brady will play Laris, Isa Briones will play Soji Asha, Santiago Cabrera will play Cristobal “Chris” Rios, Brent Spiner will play Altan Inigo Soong, and Annie Wersching will play The Borg Queen.
Two special guest stars have been announced for the new season, which is quite exciting. Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg will reprise her role as Guinan in Star Trek: The Next Generation, with John de Lancie reprising his role as the malevolent Q.
Where can I watch Picard Season 2 online?
On March 3rd, fans in the United States can watch Episode 1 of the second season on Paramount Plus. International fans, on the other hand, can watch the show on Amazon Prime Video. However, you’ll have to wait 24 hours for the most recent episode to be available on Prime Video. On March 4th, 2022, Star Trek Picard Season 2 will release on Prime Video.
Is there a trailer for Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard?
The official trailer for Star Trek: Picard season 2 was published on Monday, January 31, 2022, and it provides us a taste of what to expect from this next chapter in Captain Picard’s life.
The stakes appear to be bigger than they have ever been. Picard and his crew are stranded in the twenty-first century after Q shattered the fabric of reality. Picard is tortured by his memories, reuniting with Guinan and Q, and striving for survival both on Earth and in deep space.
