“Superman & Lois,” the most recent drama set in the Arrowverse timeline, premiered on The CW earlier this year to critical and popular acclaim. Tyler Hoechlin played an older and wiser Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, in a reprise of his former “Supergirl” guest performance. After a family tragedy, Clark and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) move in Clark’s hometown of Smallville, Kansas, with their teenage boys Jonathan and Jordan. The return of Clark’s history, as well as Jordan’s emerging superpowers, throws their new life into disarray.
The show received positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, who applauded the stars’ performances as well as the unusually sombre tone. “Its underlying emotional sincerity brings with it a lot of promise; promise it may be able to live up to,” Collider’s Liz Shannon Miller remarked.
Despite delays caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, production on the show was completed and the first season premiered in March. It was quickly renewed for a second season on The CW, and is now back in production, according to Deadline. Here’s all we know about Season 2 of “Superman & Lois.”
When will Season 2 of ‘Superman & Lois’ be released?
The first episode of Superman & Lois Season 2 will air on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET, replacing The Flash Season 8 in that time slot. After that, at 9 p.m. ET, the new superhero series Naomi will premiere.
Superman & Lois has reclaimed its season 2 schedule, so it’s safe to assume the network is content to keep it there. When The Flash Season 8 returns from its midseason hiatus, The CW has no plans to relocate it to another night.
The number of episodes in Superman & Lois Season 2 is unclear. It would have 15 episodes if it followed the same pattern as the first season.
Who is in the Superman & Lois Season 2 cast?
The main ensemble of “Superman & Lois,” featuring Hoechlin as Clark as Superman, Tulloch as Lane, and Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin as their boys Jonathan and Jordan, is very set to return for Season 2.
Now that the first season is over, we have a better idea of who might play a key role in the second. Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang, an old friend of Clark’s; Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Lana’s husband; Dylan Walsh as General Sam Lane, Lois’ father; and Wolé Parks as John Henry Irons, aka Steel, all appear to be slated to return for Season 2. This could change, but no major changes have been disclosed during the hiatus, and as Season 2 is now in production, it appears likely that the show will return in 2022 with a full cast.
Season 2 Plot Suggestions for Superman and Lois
Given that the season 2 trailer has been out, all we can do now is speculate on what the plotline might be. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what we may expect from the first season.
Superman defeated Tal-plan Rho’s to recreate Krypton on Earth in the season finale. His plans to use X-Kryptonite to transform mankind into Kryptonians were discovered and he was caught.
Morgan was captured by the Department of Defense and had his powers taken away after being struck by a crimson sun-powered hammer.
Despite this, he may still rely on his partner Leslie Larr, whom he gave powers to through the use of X-Kryptonite. She still possesses her abilities, and she could easily liberate Morgan.
Morgan Edge, on the other hand, has no hiding place now that Superman has revealed his true identity. Morgan must reintegrate himself into society despite the fact that he is not the most popular person.
There is, however, a potential that Morgan will change his ways. After all, in the finale, he told Clark that all he wanted was a “family.” If the prior narrative is pursued, it is possible that Tal-Rho will mentor Jordan and Jonathon.
He does, however, have Kryptonian wisdom that will help everyone, especially Superman. Furthermore, how will Clark deal with Jor-absence? El’s
Superman must traverse the planet without his Kryptonian father after Tal-Rho destroys the crystal that contained Jor-knowledge El’s in the Fortress of Solitude.
Will we see a more mature Superman, or will Tal-Rho attempt to redeem his error by filling that void? Furthermore, Clark and Lois may have to deal with an issue that is much closer to home.
Much like Clark has battled to inform Lois about his Kryptonian nature in the past, Jordan may find himself in a similar situation as he considers telling Sarah everything about himself.
As a result, he may wind up putting his parents in danger, as many people are curious about Superman’s true identity. Fans may also look forward to more easter eggs!
How will viewers be able to see the second season?
Starting on January 11, viewers can watch Superman & Lois Season 2 on The CW on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes, on the other hand, will be accessible to view on The CW website the day after they premiere.
Given that the first season is presently accessible to stream on HBO Max, it’s safe to assume that season 2 will follow suit at some time. However, it is unlikely to be uploaded until a month after the show’s conclusion. The season 2 finale’s air date is still uncertain at this time.
