Netflix announced that The Witcher Season 3 is in the works almost as soon as the second season of the blockbuster fantasy series began. The third season of The Witcher is now being filmed, according to Netflix.
The Witcher season 3 release date
Given that development on The Witcher season 3 began in April and that the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin will be released later this year, we don’t expect the third season to be released anytime soon.
The second season took two years to come, so we may expect the third in December 2023.
The Witcher season 3 cast
In the second series of The Witcher, we know that Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), and Ciri (Freya Allan) will all return.
We may expect to see Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer) and her fellow mages return in the upcoming series now that she’s understood what Ciri is actually capable of.
We might also expect Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), Lambert (Paul Bullion), and Coen (Yasen Atour), Geralt’s fellow Witchers, to return after surviving their ordeal in Kaer Morhen in the first series’ season finale.

Netflix has announced the identities of four new actors who will appear in season 3 of the show.
Gallatin, a born soldier who heads a guerilla army fighting on behalf of the Nilfgaardian Empire, is played by Robbie Amell (Upload, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City). His allegiance to his own people, the Scoia’tael, will put him at odds with Francesca.
Meng’er Zhang follows next (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings). Milva is a gifted human huntress who has been adopted by Brokilon Forest’s dryads.
Prince Radovid, the royal playboy, is played by Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia Here We Go Again!, Fleabag). Radovid is King Vizimir’s younger brother, who unwittingly becomes a man on the inside of Redanian Intelligence, bringing a drunken charm to the game of politics.
Christelle Elwin, last but not least (Half Bad). Mistle, played by Christelle, is a member of the ‘Rats,’ a misfit teen gang. Mistle is out for vengeance until a chance encounter changes her course, according to Netflix.
Bridgerton season 2 star Adjoa Andoh is one among the actors who isn’t sure if he’ll be back. Nenneke, Geralt’s longtime acquaintance, is played by her.
She told the RadioTimes that she wasn’t sure if she’d be back for the next series while speaking with them.
“We’ll see,” replied Adjoh. There are so many books. In the stories, they’ve gone in a variety of directions. Nenneke appears frequently in literature. However, it is dependent on what they want to do with this particular edition.
“We’ll have to wait and see what the show’s writers intend to do with the material from the books and how they intend to swing it.”
Season 3 plot of The Witcher
According to Hissrich, who spoke exclusively to TechRadar, the premise of Series 3 will be based on Time of Contempt.
Another major story from Blood of Elves is expected to be told in season 3, according to Collider, which contradicts Hissrich’s plan to do a book per season. Because many of the novels contain brief stories about Geralt and his companions at various stages of their lives, it’s natural to cut and modify things to match the series.
The development of the Scoia’tael, a sort of alliance between dwarves and elves, or Rience’s master could be the focus of this significant Blood of Elves plot. Shani, a medical student introduced in the books and The Witcher 3 DLC Hearts of Stone, could possibly make an appearance. In Redania, we’ll probably hear more from Philippa Eilhart and Dijkstra, and Vilgefortz’s true intentions will most certainly be revealed in Aretuza.

Geralt will once again be shuttling Ciri off for her security, according to the official The Witcher Twitter account, and Yen believes Aretuza is the perfect location. Unfortunately, when they arrive, they find themselves in the middle of another perilous plan, complete with political corruption, betrayals, and death. If there was a happy ending, it wouldn’t be The Witcher.
If Hissrich sticks to the plot of Time of Content, the story will become much darker and more violent than it has been in prior seasons. Geralt will, as always, be presented with difficult decisions and factions to pick from, with moral ambiguity no longer an option. Ciri’s abilities continue to expand in both strength and danger, and more allies and opponents will be on her track than ever before, especially now that her father has been revealed to be Emperor Emhyr of Nilfgaard.
Season three will follow in the footsteps of season two, with the show taking place over a shorter timeframe and in chronological sequence, which will please fans who found season one’s fluid narrative puzzling. Many of the cast members, including Cavill and Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, want to keep as true to the texts as possible in order for their characters to be accurately represented.
Trailer for The Witcher 3
However, not just now. The first look at The Witcher 3’s upcoming season was released in July, more than five months before the game’s December release. To provide more information, the release date for Season 3 will be required. As soon as that’s verified, look for a trailer to be released 4-6 months before the film’s premiere – either during a ComicCon or as part of a Netflix streaming event, depending on the circumstances.
