Tish Cyrus is divorcing Billy Ray Cyrus for the second time in as many years.
According to court documents obtained by ET, Billy Ray’s longterm husband filed in Tennessee last week. Tish and Billy Ray have not been living together since February 2020, according to the divorce complaint. It is Tish’s request that the court equitably split and distribute their marital assets and give her separate property as grounds for divorce.
It’s not the first time either of these celebrities has sought a legal separation from the other. The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer filed for divorce in October 2010 before announcing the following year that he had ended the proceedings. Tish then filed for divorce in 2013. At the time, a representative for the pair confirmed to ET that they were engaged “As a family, we are doing what is best for us and our loved ones. At this time, we ask that you keep our personal information private.”
It wasn’t until a month later that the two of them spoke openly about working on their romance.
“In the morning, when we both recognised how much we cared for one another, we made the decision to stay together. Since neither of us had ever been to therapy in our 22 years of marriage, it brought us closer together and opened up our lines of communication like never before “ET was told by the pair.
“We both recognised we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work,” Tish said. “But we’ve both had tough times.”
A notable absence from Tish’s Instagram pictures since 2019 is Billy Ray, who isn’t in their Christmas 2021 family photo either.
Miley Cyrus, 29, Noah Cyrus, 22, Braison Cyrus, 27, Brandi Cyrus, 34, and Trace Cyrus, 33, were all born to Trish and Miley prior to their marriage in December 1993. His ex Kristin Luckey gave birth to a kid named Christopher.
